Michael & Somerset Sitko - Senior Leaders

Michael & Somerset Sitko - Senior Leaders

Michael & Somerset met in Brandon, Manitoba in 1997 where they were taking their Post Secondary Education.  Michael graduated in 1998 with his diploma in Criminology and went on to serve as a police officer.  Somerset graduated in 1999 with her Bachelor of Nursing degree and began serving as a nurse.  In 2004 after a dramatic encounter with the Lord, Michael & Somerset were launched into ministry serving in various ministry leadership capacities developing & running equipping and discipleship training schools with their home church, Bethel, where they served on staff as equipping pastors.  In 2016, Michael & Somerset felt the call from the Lord to birth & pioneer a new kind of ministry centre within the City of Brandon and were blessed and released by their church family of Bethel to pursue the Lord's leading.  This led them to the planting of Legacy 728 International, a local church & ministry resource centre.

Somerset Sitko

Somerset was born and raised in a loving Christian home. Her parents began their professional lives as teachers, but answered a call to the mission field while Somerset was 1 and her sister an infant. They did a term in the Bahamas then served in the pastorate in southern Manitoba for a few years, before furthering their careers in the education field. Somerset spent her growing up years participating in church life, attending youth groups, retreats and camps.

She graduated from High school in 1996 with a vague feeling of being called by God to be prepared for ministry. Without knowing God’s voice could be more than a vague feeling, she began her Bachelor of Nursing studies at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She followed a friend to Brandon for her second year of the program to specialize in Rural Nursing (something that may come in handy if she were ever to serve in missions). In Brandon, she attended a Pentecostal church where she heard about Holy Spirit who could speak to and through people quite clearly. She also met Michael, the man she would marry two and a half years later, in May of 1999.  She finished her degree one year later.

Michael and Somerset lived in Winkler where he served as a police officer with a small town police force until Michael was hired by the RCMP and was transferred to Northern Manitoba in 2001. Somerset worked at a Community Health Center doing the rural nursing she was trained for. They attended a small Baptist church where she was introduced to the prophetic on a personal level, and discovered a gift for the prophetic.  Upon learning that hearing God’s voice in the many ways He speaks is not just for special people but for all people, God lit a desire & a passion in her to teach this basic truth to the body of Christ.

From 2006 till 2016, after serving in pastoral leadership at Bethel Church in Brandon, together with her husband Michael they resigned and embarked on the journey together of planting Legacy 728 International, a local church and ministry resource centre.

 Michael Sitko

Michael grew up in a Christian home with his parents and two sisters.  After abandoning the call of God on his life at age 18 Michael pursued a career in law enforcement where he served with several police agencies over the course of an 8-year period.  In 2005, after a remarkable encounter with God, Michael resigned from a very successful career with the RCMP, to once again pursue the calling on his life to pastoral ministry.

From 2006 until 2016, Michael served at his home church of Bethel Christian Assembly on staff as a member of the Pastoral team giving oversight & direction to Bethel’s Equipping Ministries.  Since leaving the RCMP in addition to his ministry duties within Bethel, Michael has also been involved in the establishment of several businesses as well as serving the City of Brandon as a Real Estate Agent with Royal LePage Martin Liberty Realty, where he is actively engaged in the business community.  In 2016 Michael & Somerset resigned from their role on staff with Bethel Church to plant Legacy 728 International, a local church and ministry resource centre.

Michael believes the only way that we are going to bring the transformation and change to our cities and nations as God intended is through serving the very people we have been called to share the Good News of the Kingdom of God with.

Michael is an emerging apostolic leader with a passion to see the next great reformation come to the body of Christ with the gospel of the kingdom preached with the same power & authority with which it was originally demonstrated through the church.   His desire is to see the church mobilized to make disciples of the nations through believers being equipped to demonstrate the kingdom within their sphere of influence.   Michael & Somerset live in Brandon, MB with their 4 children Elise, Abby, Ethan & Jael.
